Gendarme Nahuel Gallo on his release from Venezuelan prison

Gendarme Nahuel Gallo, who was freed after 448 days detained in Venezuela, stated this Wednesday that he has 'scant information' about what happened during his captivity and said he is trying to 'reinsert himself into society'. 'I am well in health, thank God, I am going through a moment of studies and trying to reinsert myself into society,' he indicated. Gallo mentioned that 'the Venezuelan state made it known to him that the Argentine state had requested his release'. He also asked the international media 'not to lower their arms' and 'to do their part'. 'I am still locked in my mind, until those 24 foreigners are released, I am not free,' he stated, adding that there are '24 more foreigners' in the El Rodeo 1 prison 'waiting to be released'. 'It is not a very good place, but rather a place of quite psychological torture,' he said about his detention. Gallo also asked not to forget Venezuela, which is in a 'transition', and emphasized that authoritarianism strengthens when it believes no one is watching. 'I am not prepared to tell the atrocities they did,' he confessed.
