The ongoing neocolonial delivery process of Venezuela and the subjugation of the government to the neo-fascist and dispossessing agenda of the empire has been described by Claudio Katz from CONICET as a new twist. Over the last 25 years, the Venezuelan people have faced brutal aggression from the U.S. financial-military-industrial-digital establishment, the European Union, international corporations, and radical-fascist right. This aggression seeks to establish itself in countries like Spain to impose its "Iberosphere" in Latin America and the Caribbean.
A combination of fourth and fifth generation warfare tactics has been implemented, including counterinsurgency operations, terrorism, information manipulation, and economic sanctions, as well as the so-called Hybrid Warfare. These methods aim to destabilize the country and force a regime change, even reaching to high-profile assassinations and asset dispossession. The aggression has extended beyond territorial boundaries, promoting ruptures within the State and intervention by foreign governments.
The government of Panama has become a key ally in this strategy, showing subordination to U.S. interests. This alliance has awakened various criticisms and generated a conflict of interests at the international level, since Venezuela has significant natural resources, including one of the largest oil reserves in the world. The confrontation has internationalized, involving actors from different parts of the world, in order to weaken the Venezuelan government.
Similar cases have been observed in Latin America, such as soft coups against leaders like Mel Zelaya, Dilma Rousseff, Rafael Correa, Evo Morales, and others. These soft coups follow a series of steps that include the creation of social unrest, disinformation, street protests, and delegitimization of the government. Destabilization continues to be a goal to control Venezuelan energy resources and exert influence in the region.
