During the so-called political transition period in Venezuela following the capture of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores on January 3, an Atlas-Intel survey in partnership with Bloomberg reveals that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado are the most popular political figures among adults in the South American country. The survey, conducted between February 19 and 25 with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 points and representative of Venezuelan territory, shows Rubio has a positive image of 57%, while Machado reaches a 56% favorable perception. Both are seen by broad sectors as key players in shaping a more stable and prosperous political future for Venezuela. President Donald Trump is also among the leaders most highly regarded by Venezuelans, with a 53% positive image, reflecting a strong impact of his foreign policy in Venezuela.
