Delcy Rodríguez appoints new deputy foreign ministers and dismisses Minister of International Communication

The interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, appointed new deputy foreign ministers on Monday and dismissed the Minister of International Communication, Camilla Fabri, wife of Colombian businessman Alex Saab, known for being a collaborator of President Nicolás Maduro. On her social networks, the head of state named Oliver Blanco, who identified with the Venezuelan opposition until a few months ago, as Deputy Minister for North America and for Europe, the latter post held by the current Minister of Foreign Trade, Coromoto Godoy. She also announced the appointment of Andrea Corao Faria as Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania, replacing agricultural engineer Tatiana Pugh Moreno. Finally, she appointed Mauricio Rodríguez as Deputy Minister for Latin America in place of Rander Peña, who will now become Deputy Minister of International Communication, a post held until today by Saab's wife. Camilla Fabri remains, for now, in charge of the government program for repatriates 'Great Mission Return to the Homeland.' Her husband, who was accused and detained in the United States on a case of alleged money laundering, left the Venezuelan cabinet in January of last year after serving as Minister of Industry and National Production. These appointments add to more than a dozen ministerial and government changes made by Delcy Rodríguez since she assumed the interim presidency, including the appointment of Captain Juan Escalona as Minister of the Presidential Office, a member of President Nicolás Maduro's security team. Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in as interim president on January 5 before the Parliament, which is led by her brother Jorge Rodríguez, two days after the United States captured Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, in an operation in Caracas. Since then, the interim government has initiated an 'exploratory' process to resume relations with the United States, has agreed to send millions of barrels of crude to the U.S. for its commercialization, and has opened the oil industry to foreign investment with the push of the Republican administration.
