Diosdado Cabello, the number two in Chavism, stated that the United States will not break the Venezuelan government following the military offensive and the capture attempt of President Nicolás Maduro, in a scenario marked by bombings and high political tension. The leader called for calm in the population and asked to trust the current leadership not to give in to what he described as an external invasion. "Trust in the leadership, that no one falls into despair, that no one makes it easier for the invading and terrorist enemy that attacked us cowardly," Cabello stated, who emphasized that this is not the first battle the country faces: "It is not the first battle that some have undertaken against this people, believing that they are going to defeat us, that they are going to humiliate us." He also highlighted the survival capacity of the movement and the popular organization in the face of the current crisis. "Beyond any of us, there is an organized people here that knows what it has to do," he maintained. "What they attempted with the bombs and missiles they launched, they achieved partially." Cabello also affirmed that the country remains calm and that the attackers' objectives were not fully met. "They expected the people to go wild and cowardly. The cowards are in the past," he concluded, while reiterating that it was a "treacherous and vile attack on a people that was sleeping." He also questioned the silence of the international community regarding the impact of the offensive in residential areas.
