President Nicolás Maduro addressed U.S. media, declaring that Venezuela continues an active struggle for its sovereignty and freedom. He stressed that the country will not allow foreign lobbies to harm its interests and urged journalists not to succumb to groups trying to siphon natural resources.
"…do not give in to so many lobbies," he said, pointing to "bonistas, petroleros, from Miami" and "corrupt Venezuelans who fled to Miami" as those who "pay for articles."
Maduro also accused White House officials of "manufacturing" opposition figures, calling John Bolton, Rex Tillerson, John Kelly and Mike Pompeo "principals who invented Guaidó."
In closing he emphasized that Venezuela seeks peace and prosperity, and that its government will keep building true strength, protecting the homeland and aiming for a bright future.
