Machado Calls for Real Transition in Venezuela After Meeting with Rubio

Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado stated that a transition to democracy in the country is imminent. She assured this would happen with the backing of the world's leading democracies, especially the government of President Donald Trump. Machado expressed her intention to return to Venezuela as soon as possible, though she might pass through other countries first. She emphasized that the opposition's goal is a real transition, not one that allows criminal groups to remain in power. Machado noted that while over 300 people have been released, more than 700 remain detained, with new arrests occurring this month. She also observed that the repressive apparatus is beginning to weaken, signaling hope for change.
