The Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, reported that another 23 people linked to political activity were released as part of a sovereign decision by the Venezuelan state. The spokesperson reaffirmed that the process of releases will begin in the country and clarified that this is a decision ordered by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro (currently detained in the United States) since last December, and to date, 831 people have been released. According to a Xinhua report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, Cabello stated that each case was evaluated individually by the relevant state authorities, and during his weekly television program, he explained that these measures are not a response to external pressures or actions by non-governmental organizations. "These have been decisions made by the state," he reiterated. The also General Secretary of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) emphasized that the releases are part of a broader plan aimed at democratic coexistence and peace, an initiative presented by the Acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, as a way to preserve national stability. Additionally, he indicated that the government's call to the 831 released individuals is for them to return to their homes and bet on peaceful coexistence. In this context, Cabello emphasized that one of the priorities of the current political scenario is the defense of peace and tranquility in the country. "Violence is not the way," he stressed.
