Maduro from US urges trust in Venezuela's interim government

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, sent a second message to his country on Tuesday from his place of confinement in the United States, in which he urges the Venezuelan people to fully trust the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez. According to a Xinhua report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the message was transmitted by the deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra, son of the president, who specified that the communication was sent through his father's legal teams. "We had a message from him and from her, they tell us that they are firm and strong, that they are clear about the role of struggle that corresponds to them to play, that they have peace of mind," he stated. The deputy called on the population not to be influenced by disinformation campaigns and to maintain national cohesion, emphasizing the importance of resorting only to official sources. "We must remain united and not let anything divide us. They will try to say things to confuse, but before that: political and ideological clarity," he affirmed. The statements took place within the framework of a mobilization of Venezuelan transport workers in different points of Caracas, who reiterated their support for the national government and demanded the release of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. Both were captured and taken out of the South American country during a U.S. military raid in the early hours of last January 3, which also left at least 100 dead and dozens injured, as well as numerous damages in four Venezuelan cities. "Trust in Delcy, in the team that is at the helm and in us."
