In the framework of the gradual release of political prisoners occurring in Venezuela after the fall of Nicolás Maduro, the authorities of the El Rodeo I prison allowed family members to visit the detainees this Sunday.
"It is very tough day by day and we try to protect their integrity because we do not know what can happen," she stated in press statements.
This measure represents a significant change, as direct contact had not been authorized in that detention center for months.
According to what Argentine News Agency learned, among the relatives waiting for news is the mother-in-law of Argentine gendarme Nahuel Gallo, who remains outside the prison awaiting official information about the officer's condition.
A year of absolute silence
The situation of Nahuel Gallo, detained since December 2024, is followed with special attention due to the rigor of his imprisonment:
Total isolation: Since his illegal detention, the gendarme had not had the opportunity to communicate with his family by letters, messages, or calls. No visits: Until this Sunday, Venezuelan authorities had blocked any attempt at personal contact. Detention conditions: Gallo is in the sector renamed as the Special Maximum Security Service (CESMAS), under a strict regime.
The family's pain and uncertainty over the lists
The officer's mother, Griselda Heredia del Valle, expressed the ordeal the family is going through due to the lack of certainty.
The woman described the situation as "unjust" and recounted the emotional impact of hearing testimonies from former cellmates about the conditions at El Rodeo I.
To date, there is no official list or reliable information about upcoming releases.
