Venezuela, Caracas. The capital city is hosting the 16th Caracas International Book Fair, an event that transforms the city into the epicenter of books and reading. Held under the motto "A book, a friend," the fair takes place from October 31 to November 11 at the National Art Gallery (GAN) and the Plaza de la Juventud. It is organized by the Caracas Mayor's Office through the Foundation for Culture and the Arts (FUNDARTE). During the inauguration on October 31, Vice President of the Republic Delcy Rodriguez invited all Venezuelan people to enjoy this "feast of knowledge." In turn, the Vice President for Communication, Culture, and Tourism, Freddy Ñáñez, highlighted the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to promoting literary activities that bring knowledge and creativity closer to all citizens. The fair aims to capture the attention of young people and encourage them to spend their time on social media reading. It has become a must-see for book lovers and a fundamental space for promoting reading and engaging with Venezuelan literature. The program includes over 200 cultural activities, such as 166 book presentations, 80 children's activities, and the participation of international guests from Cuba, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, and Iran. The event also pays homage to the distinguished Venezuelan writer Juan Antonio Calzadilla Arreaza in recognition of his valuable contribution to Venezuelan literature. Attendees have expressed enthusiasm for the diversity of literary proposals and, especially, the affordable book prices. Many readers believe that the subsidies that expand purchasing possibilities should be maintained, as they make access to culture possible for broad sectors of the population. Javier, a bookstore owner with 64 years of experience, told teleSUR reporter Michell Ramirez that he is "very pleased with the relationship between the national government and booksellers, a figure essential in the bookstores of Caracas."
