River's forward, Agustín Ruberto, missed a penalty during the match between Argentina and Ecuador corresponding to the fifth round of the South American U-20 Tournament held at the Metropolitano Stadium in Lara, Venezuela. The match ended in a goalless draw between both teams, leaving Argentina in second place in Group B.

In a balanced first half with few emotions, neither team managed to score against the rival goal. Franco Mastantuono was one of the most active in Argentine attacks. Despite the generated opportunities, the score did not change during the 90 minutes of play.

With this result, Argentina advanced to the Final Phase of the tournament as the second in Group B with eight points, below Colombia. The Colombian team took first place in the group by defeating Brazil 1-0 in another tight match. Néiser Villarreal's goal two minutes into the second half was decisive for the coffee team's victory.

Despite Argentina's efforts to obtain victory, the shots from Mastantuono and Santiago Hidalgo hit the posts. Near the end of the match, a penalty in favor of Argentina was wasted by Ruberto, who hit the ball against the crossbar. This result left Ecuador out of the Final Phase and the U-20 World Cup that will take place in Chile.
