17 Political Prisoners Released in Venezuela

The president of Venezuela's National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, announced the release of 17 political prisoners as part of the amnesty process. The inmates were held at Zone 7 detention center. The release comes as lawmakers prepare to debate the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence and Peace.


17 Political Prisoners Released in Venezuela

At least 17 political prisoners regained their freedom in Venezuela, within the framework of the Amnesty process, as announced by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez. Rodríguez detailed that the inmates were held at the detention center known as Zone 7 and stated: 'The objective is to continue this path of peace for democratic construction among brothers.' The releases come as lawmakers prepare to debate the bill called the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence and Peace, according to the Xinhua news agency. Around 900 people have benefited from this measure, more than a month after dictator Nicolás Maduro.
