Machado on Opposition Plans and US Actions

Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado stated her team is working hard with the U.S. and other countries to detail a 100-day plan for governance while denying involvement in Trump's Caribbean operations.

Opposition leader María Corina Machado, however, stated that Trump's actions in the Caribbean have been 'decisive in reaching the point where we are now, where the regime is weaker than ever.' The opposition leader did admit that they are working diligently not only with the United States but also with other governments in Latin America and Europe to explain their plans for the 'first 100 hours and the following 100 days' in power in a country facing a 'multidimensional crisis.' The Venezuelan opposition led by María Corina Machado is 'working diligently' with the U.S. government to detail its transition plan but denied being involved in the operations that the Donald Trump administration is conducting in the Caribbean. 'President Edmundo González and his team have a great challenge, but I want to assure you that highly talented, experienced, and honest professionals, both inside Venezuela and abroad, are working together,' she said. 'I don't know if any government, in this case the United States, has a 'deadline,' we are going all the way,' she added. 'We are not involved at all in the decisions or operations related to the national security of other countries.' In her view, this is 'not just a humanitarian crisis, but also a financial, public services, and security crisis, all at the same time.' Machado emphasized that she is 'taking it one day at a time' and recalled that she has said many times that she will not speculate on the strategies or actions of other countries. 'That is, each country has its own right to legitimate defense, and when they feel their national security is at stake, they act accordingly,' said the opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate at a press conference in Oslo. 'We have the plans and teams ready to take control from day one,' she said.
