The Argentine team defeated Uruguay 4-3 at the National Stadium Brigido Iriarte in Caracas, in the second round of the final hexagonal of the South American U-20 Tournament taking place in Venezuela.

In a balanced and complicated first half for the 'Albiceleste', Diego Placente's team had to deal with the injury of Agustin Ruberto, in the 18th minute, who was replaced by Maher Carrizo. Despite this challenge, Argentina managed to open the scoring in the 38th minute with a goal from Claudio Echeverri.

Echeverri extended the lead near the end of the first half, in the 48th minute, after a play set up by Milton Delgado and Maher Carrizo. In the second half, Carrizo scored again in the 6th minute, following a run by Santiago Hidalgo.

JoaquĆ­n Lavega pulled one back for Uruguay in the 15th minute, while Carrizo scored his second goal in the 24th minute to extend Argentina's lead. Despite Uruguay's resistance, the match concluded with a score of 4-3 in favor of Argentina.

The Uruguayan team fought until the end, with goals from Lavega and Esteban Crucci in the final minutes that added suspense to the match; however, Argentina managed to maintain the lead until the final whistle of the referee.
