Argentine Gendarme Reportedly Released from Venezuelan Prison

Buenos Aires, March 1 (NA) — According to videos circulating from inside El Rodeo I prison, inmates claim that Argentine gendarme Nahuel Gallo, detained in Venezuela since December 8, 2024, and considered a political prisoner by international organizations, has been released. In the recordings, he and other inmates can be heard telling their families that Gallo was freed, causing immediate repercussions and anticipation in Argentina. So far, there is no official confirmation from Venezuelan authorities regarding Gallo's release; the information comes only from accounts and videos circulating from the prison. The spread of these clips occurs within a broader process of political prisoner releases in Venezuela, following the approval of an amnesty law, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. In recent weeks and months, dozens of releases of detainees for political reasons, both Venezuelan and foreign, have been recorded, some of which have been confirmed by international bodies and NGOs. IP Gallo's family and the Argentine government had made constant demands for his release for over a year.
