Buenos Aires, January 10 (NA) -- Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stated that he is 'well,' just like his wife Cilia Flores, and that both feel 'strong.' This was announced today by the couple's son, Nicolás Maduro Guerra, a week after their arrest by U.S. forces. 'He is strong,' he emphasized. Maduro and his wife were arrested last Saturday in Caracas, accused of various crimes linked to narco-terrorism. On the same day, they were transferred to a prison in New York City, where they made their first appearance this Monday. 'He told us not to be sad, that 'we are fine, we are fighters,'” said Nicolás Maduro Guerra in a video released this Saturday by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), marking the former president's first public communication since his detention. Likewise, and as learned by the Argentine News agency, he stated that his father 'could not be defeated by any means' and that, in his view, a 'disproportionate force' from the United States was necessary to achieve his arrest: 'But they did not defeat him.' 'The lawyers have told us that he is strong.'
