Vice President of Venezuela Left Country Before US Attack

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, first in line of succession for the Chavist regime, reportedly left Caracas for Russia hours before the US military attack on Venezuela began, according to information that emerged in recent hours and was confirmed by messages from Moscow.

Her absence from the country during the bombings and the capture of Nicolás Maduro fuels speculation about a preventive move in a scenario already anticipated to be critical for Chavist power.

US President Donald Trump announced early Saturday the capture of Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, following what he described as a "large-scale attack" on strategic targets in Venezuela.

"In this brutal situation and in the face of this brutal attack, we do not know the whereabouts of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores," she stated.

In practice, her pronouncement positioned her as the main institutional voice of Chavism amid the collapse of the political and military command that followed Maduro's capture.

Meanwhile, other key figures in the regime attempted to show internal cohesion.

"At the end of these attacks, we will win," he affirmed, closing his message with slogans of loyalty to the Chavist project.

In parallel, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil announced that the regime has requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

"In the face of the criminal aggression committed by the government of the United States against the Homeland, we have requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, responsible for enforcing International Law," he wrote on his official Telegram channel.

The Vice President also reiterated that the "plans for the comprehensive defense of the nation" remain active, after the regime declared a state of exception.
