Venezuela Rejects Exclusion from the BRICS Group

The Venezuelan government expressed its rejection of the Brazilian foreign ministry's decision to maintain the veto preventing its entry into the BRICS group, describing this action as "an aggression" and a "hostile" gesture from the neighboring country. The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a communiqué that they consider this measure, carried out in Russia by the Brazilian ambassador, Eduardo Paes Saboia, as a continuation of the policies implemented during the presidency of Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022), which promoted "exclusion and intolerance" towards Venezuela.

"This historic summit for a new world of peace, justice, and shared development has been a resounding success," Caracas stated regarding the BRICS Plus summit held in the Russian city of Kazan. Despite this setback, the Venezuelan government has received support from several participating countries at the summit for the formalization of its entry into the mechanism. Additionally, Caracas congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government for the development of the mentioned summit, emphasizing the importance of working towards peace, justice, and shared development.
