The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, appointed Daniella Cabello, the daughter of the number two in Chavismo, Diosdado Cabello, as Minister of Tourism this Monday. This is part of the changes she is making in the cabinet following the capture of President Nicolás Maduro by the United States almost a month ago. 'I have decided to appoint the young Daniella Cabello as the new Minister of the People's Power for Tourism, who will now take on the responsibility of promoting the development and promotion of the National Tourism System,' Rodríguez said in a message on Telegram. The acting head of state thanked the current minister, Leticia Gómez, 'for her valuable work at the head of this important ministry,' and added that Venezuela is 'open to the world.' Since she was sworn in as acting president on January 5, Rodríguez has been announcing ministerial changes in Transport, Communication, Environment, Health, and the Presidency's Office, as well as military appointments. On January 6, three days after Maduro's capture, Rodríguez announced the appointment of former Central Bank President Calixto Ortega as the new Vice President of Sectoral Economy. On the same day, she also removed Maduro's head of Security, Major General Javier Marcano Tábata, and appointed General Gustavo González López in his place as commander of the Presidential Honor Guard and head of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM). Rodríguez was sworn in before the National Assembly (AN, Parliament), complying with an order from the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), after the capture of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, during the U.S. attacks on January 3. Since then, the Acting Government has initiated an 'exploratory' process to resume relations with Washington, has agreed to send millions of barrels of crude oil to the U.S. for its commercialization, and has opened the oil industry to foreign investment with the push of the Republican Administration.
