The American accusation is the assertion that a narcoterrorist cartel in Venezuela has impudently attacked its territory and has killed hundreds of thousands by sending drugs, as well as causing American deaths through terrorist attacks in the Middle East. Trump and his Secretaries of State (Marco Rubio) and War (Pete Herseth) have been insistent in their speeches, stating they do not seek to attack through military invasion of Venezuela, but rather to capture the leaders of the 'Cartel of the Suns,' chaired by Nicolás Maduro, Diosdado Cabello, and Vladimir Padrino, as they are fugitives from American justice, having been indicted in the Southern District of New York. They add that the ultimate goal is to destroy them completely. For the US government, negotiating an exit with the accused is difficult, starting from the premise that they do not recognize Maduro and others as a legitimate government because they are classified as terrorists and were also defeated at the polls on July 28, 2024. They are in denial of recognizing the legitimate winner, Edmundo González, perpetrating an electoral theft and usurping power by force. In this sense, the United States has no interest in a change of government in Caracas, because it was the Venezuelan citizen who, at the polls, facilitated a change of government after 26 years of dictatorship that imposed repression and fear as a method of governance.
