Local electoral council – an organ supporting the rule of law – established on April 27 the date of the parliamentary and regional elections in Venezuela.
These elections will be the first after the opposition in 2019 refused to participate in the communal elections, sparing the transparency of the electoral process. Currently, it occupies a distant place in the country’s political life.
The elections are scheduled for April 27, which is a Sunday, when the country will elect 167 deputies of the national parliament, as well as deputies of regional and municipal councils. The general secretary of the Venezuelan opposition stated: "We must provide detailed information about the electoral process and protect citizens' rights to free, fair, and transparent elections."
