Venezuela dismantles Kirchner hall

The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, ordered the dismantling of the so-called 'Néstor Kirchner Hall' in the Miraflores Palace, a space that had been inaugurated in 2011 to honor the former Argentine leader. The hall was created during the government of Hugo Chávez alongside then Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner as a symbol of the political relationship between the two countries and in recognition of Néstor Kirchner. According to reports, the space stopped displaying portraits and references to the former Argentine head of state in a decision that marks a change in the symbolism within the seat of the Venezuelan executive. The Argentine News Agency was able to learn that until December 2025, the place had maintained images and elements related to Kirchner, which evidenced the continuity of the tribute within the presidential palace. The so-called Néstor Kirchner Hall functioned as one of the meeting spaces within the Miraflores Palace, where official activities of the Venezuelan government were held. The measure comes in the context of a political reconfiguration in Venezuela after recent changes in the country's leadership, and reflects a redefinition of the symbols of the political alliance between chavism and kirchnerism.
